Chapter 19
"Where did you get this name?" Luke asked, waving the paper at Nikolas.
"From Lucien. Why, do you know who that is?" Nikolas was surprised at Luke's reaction. The name on that paper had scared him for some reason.
Luke shook his head in disbelief. "How can this be? Faison is dead. He died years ago..." he muttered to himself, staring at the paper. He thought for a moment, then picked up the phone. Nikolas and Carly looked at each other in confusion.
"Mac, it's Luke. How quickly can you get over here? Yeah, it's important. Trust me, you want to see this. Okay, bye." He hung up and looked at his niece and stepson.
"Why did you just call Mac?" Carly asked. Her uncle hated the police, and she couldn't understand why he would get them involved in this.
"Mac knows Faison personally. They had some trouble years ago, and Faison killed his brother and his wife, Robert and Anna Scorpio. Everyone thought Faison had died with them. If Faison is really alive, then Mac and Felicia could be in danger. He has a right to know, plus he can help us find him."
They nodded and waited in an uncomfortable silence until Mac showed up. "Okay, Luke, what's the big emergency?" he asked, rushing into the office.
"I've got a lead on Lucien Cassidine. Nikolas got the name of his uncle," he said cryptically.
"And you couldn't tell me this over the phone why?" Mac asked, annoyed. Luke held out the piece of paper to him.
"Just read it."
Mac took the paper from him, and read the name, his face instantly draining of all color. "Is this some kind of sick joke?"
Luke shook his head. "Not as far as I can tell. Lucien told him this himself."
Mac nodded slowly. "So, he's claiming that Helena's his grandmother, and Cesar Faison is his uncle? So, that would mean Faison would be his mother's brother, right? I mean, he's not related to the Cassidines, is he?" Luke shook his head, not sure where this was heading. "His mother's name is listed as Anna."
Luke chuckled "I guess he couldn't resist. Kind of sneaky, isn't it?"
Nikolas and Carly were totally lost, but kept quiet anyway and listened to the two men talk.
"So, we know now that Lucien's background is false. Why would Helena go to so much trouble just to make up an heir? And why is she involved with Faison?" Mac asked.
"Well, since we last spoke, a new theory has come my way, and although I didn't agree with it at first, it's starting to look more and more possible. Lucien might be my son. Lucky might not have died in the fire."
Mac looked at Luke in shock. "But why would Lucky pretend to be a Cassidine? He hates them as much as you do!"
Luke shrugged. "Amnesia, brainwashing, who knows....Point is, we need to find out if it's him or not."
"You know, over a year ago, we got this tape from Interpol that had the voice of a diamond fence on it, someone we thought might be working through Port Charles. The quality was horrible, but at the time I could have sworn it was Faison's voice. Felicia talked me out of it and the case never went anywhere, so I forgot about it. Now I'm wondering if that was a bad idea."
"Diamond fence? Do you still have the tape?" Luke asked, trying to sound casual.
Mac nodded. "I made a copy. It's at home, why?"
"Just curious. I get people calling me all the time to do weird things. Maybe I can recognize it."
Mac didn't buy his excuse, but figured that now wasn't the time to argue. "Sure, just a minute." He called Felicia quickly and asked her to bring it over.

"Hi Luck...Lucien," Elizabeth said, smiling. It was going to be hard to get used to calling him that, but she knew that he wouldn't like to be called Lucky yet. He smiled at her as he came into the room and sat down next to her bed.
"How are you?" he asked.
"I'm better. They said I might be able to go home tonight. I'm dying to get out of here!"
"That's good. I know I said it before, but I'm really sorry that this had to happen. If I had known... Nikolas warned me that Laura would probably react like that if she saw me, but he forgot to tell me about you, since you were in New York."
She shook her head. "Forget about it. It's not your fault. I've just had a really hard time dealing with his death, and when I saw you , I guess I projected that onto you somehow. I'm okay now, so you don't have to worry about me freaking out on you again!"
He laughed and nodded. "That's good, because I was hoping I'd be able to see you again, once you get released," he said timidly. He had never asked anyone out before, and wasn't sure how she would react.
Liz smiled. Maybe Lucky was still in there somewhere after all. "I'd like that, Lucien."
He couldn't hide his surprise. "Really? That's great! Um...would tonight be too soon?"
She chuckled at his eagerness. "Tonight would be great, if they let me out of here by then. I can't wait to eat normal food again!"
He jumped up and grabbed her hand. "I'm going to go find out then, and if you are being releaed, I'll make a reservation somewhere. I don't really know this town, so where's a good place to eat?"
She thought for a moment, then smiled. "Why don't you surprise me? There aren't really any bad places here, so just pick one you think you'd like, okay?"
He nodded and squeezed her hand quickly before rushing out of the room. She smiled to herself, wondering where he would take her. She knew Lucky was in there somewhere, and hoped that she could help him break through.
