Lucky and Liz stood in front of one another for a moment, not sure what to do. Finally, he took her hand and wrapped his other arm around her waist. “Relax, I don’t bite,” he said softly, noticing how she had tensed up at his touch.
Liz looked up and met his eyes, becoming immediately drawn into them. She sighed, knowing that they didn’t really have a choice, and began to dance with him.
I'd like to run away from you
But if I were to leave you I would die
I'd like to break the chains you put around me
And yet I'll never try
“Ugh, they had to pick something by Celine Dion?” Alexis groaned, trying to break the tension that had formed between her and Sonny as soon as they had touched.
He smiled, flashing his dimples. “Yeah, but it’s a duet with Pavarotti, so it’s sort of redeemed that way,” he said, twirling her around a little. He figured if he had to dance, there was no point in doing it halfway.
“Pavarotti? I didn’t know you were the classical type,” she said, surprised.
“Well, Mrs. Davis-Jacks, there’s a lot about me that you don’t know,” he answered mysteriously.
No matter what you do you drive me crazy
I'd rather be alone
But then I know my life would be so empty
As soon as you were gone
“Kind of ironic, don’t you think?” Carly asked with a chuckle. She was doing everything she could to hold back from laying her head on Jason’s shoulder like she used to when they would dance at Jake’s.
“Why?” Jason asked, not sure what she meant. He was becoming increasingly distracted by how good she felt in his arms.
“The song. Just listen to the words, you’ll know what I mean,” she explained.
Impossible to live with you
But I could never live without you
For what ever you do / For whatever you do
I never, never, never
Want to be in love with anyone but you
“Hey, Bubba, mind if I take the little lady for a spin?” Luke asked Mac with a grin. Mac sighed, knowing he was going to do it anyway, and nodded. Luke grabbed Felicia’s hand and drug her out to the dance floor.
“Luke, what are you doing?” she asked with a giggle as he spun her around.
“Celebrating, darlin’! It worked. Look at them.”
You make me sad
You make me strong
You make me mad
You make me long for you / You make me long for you
You make me live
You make me die
You make me laugh
You make me cry for you / You make me cry for you
Without realizing it, Lucky and Elizabeth had been gravitating towards one another as the song progressed. Liz had moved her arms around Lucky’s neck, and his were wrapped around her small waist. Their eyes were locked as they danced, the meaning of the song not completely lost on them.
I hate you
Then I love you
Then I love you
Then I hate you
Then I love you more
For whatever you do
I never, never, never
Want to be in love with anyone but you
“Hey, why should they have all the fun?” Rich asked, standing up and offering his hand to Charisma. “Come on, dance with me.”
She chuckled and stood up, taking his hand and following him out to join the small crowd. He pulled her close and they began to dance. She laughed at the way he was hamming it up. “No offense, Rich, but this is like dancing with my brother!”
“So, what’s wrong with that?” he asked, spinning her around. “This is the best kind of dancing. No one’s nervous, we can just have fun, unlike most of these other people out here!”
You treat me wrong
You treat me right
You let me be
You make me fight with you / I could never live without you
You make me high
You bring me down
You set me free
You hold me bound to you
“Hey, look at that,” Emily said, motioning at Lucky and Liz, who were still lost in their own world. Nikolas followed her gaze and chuckled.
“Now that’s something I never expected to see. Especially after that fight they just had,” he said, smiling down at her. Emily had always been his friend, but for some reason tonight he was starting to see more. She returned his smile, happy to be in his arms, even if it was just for one dance.
“I’ve always thought there was something there between them, even though neither of them wanted to admit it. I have a feeling after tonight, things are going to change for them.”
I hate you
Then I love you
Then I love you
Then I hate you
Then I love you more
For whatever you do / For whatever you do
I never, never, never
Want to be in love with anyone but you
“Now there’s something I didn’t expect to see,” Alexis muttered. She had been looking at the other couples, trying to avoid watching Ned and Jax, as well as trying to ignore the fact that Sonny was actually a really good dancer. She ended up watching Lucky and Liz, and was shocked to see them so close.
Sonny turned to see what she was looking at, happy for a diversion. He had never thought much of Alexis before, but now, dancing with her, he could feel a spark between them, and it scared him a little. Not wanting to watch Carly and Jason, he had been trying to find something else to look at, and had instead been watching with amusement as Luke and Felicia danced. He frowned when he saw Lucky and Liz, knowing what it would do to Jason if he saw them. He looked over at his friend and his heart sank as he realized that Jason and Carly were nearly as close as Lucky and Liz were.
I never, never, never
I never, never, never
I never, never, never
Want to be in love with anyone but you
But you
The song ended and the couples began to break apart, some quickly and others more slowly. Most of them retreated back to the safety of their tables, relieved to be finished with the obligatory dance.
“Song’s over,” Lucky said quietly, unable to tear his eyes away from hers. He didn’t know what was happening, or why, but no matter how hard he fought it, he was losing terribly.
Liz swallowed, trying to tear her eyes away from his. After summoning up all her will-power, she managed to step back, letting her arms fall away from his neck. “Right, um, our food’s probably getting cold,” she muttered, not sure what to make of what just happened.
