Chapter 108

“What do you remember?” Lucky asked anxiously, moving closer to Liz on the couch.

“Everything. It just all came back in a rush. I remember stopping in New Jersey because of the rain, and checking into that hotel. I was still kind of shaken up because of the way we had kissed in the parking lot that day...”

Lucky smiled and squeezed her hand. “I was, too. Why did we have to be so stubborn?”

“Beats me,” she sighed.

“So, what else happened? I’m still confused about how we ended up in Vegas in the first place.”

“Friends,” she said simply, rubbing her face. “We were drunk, and started watching Friends. Now I remember, it was that episode where Ross and Rachel get smashed in Vegas and end up getting married. I was complaining about being bored, and said I wanted to do that, but you said no, so I told you that you weren’t any fun. I guess you figured in order to prove that you were, you’d have to take me to Vegas and marry me.” She giggled a little at the shock on his face.

“That would explain that part on the video when we were arguing over my being fun or not,” he muttered, shaking his head. “We were really drunk, weren’t we?”

“Oh yeah, we were plastered. We kept kissing, too. You even took off my shirt at one point!”

“It was cold,” he said, without thinking.

“Yeah, that’s what you said then...wait, did you just remember that?” she asked, looking up at him expectantly.

“No... I mean, not really. It just popped into my head, that the shirt was cold, but that’s all. It must have been because it was wet.” He sighed and shook his head, wishing he could remember. “So, we went to Vegas, then what? I can’t believe I managed to get my plane and everything if we were that drunk!”

“Somehow, you did. We checked out and took a cab to the airport. We watched some movies on the plane and drank the rest of the alcohol that I brought with me. After that, you turned on the music, and we danced to that song that was just playing. That’s why it sounded so familiar when Luke played it at the party. When we got to Vegas, we went straight for a chapel and, well, you saw the tape...”

He nodded, smiling, picturing it in his mind. “You looked amazing in that dress.”

“You looked pretty amazing yourself,” she responded softly, getting lost in his eyes for a moment. “Um, what happened next....oh, we were walking down the street, trying to figure out where to go, and sat down on this fountain. You said something about the honeymoon, and I splashed you, so you started splashing me back. We got soaked, so we went to the hotel across the street and checked in. When we got up to the room, we sort of just threw off our clothes, and...”

“And?” he asked, waiting for her to say what he thought they had done.

Liz frowned for a moment, trying to bring up the memory, then gasped in surprise and turned to him, her eyes wide. “We went to sleep.”

“You mean, after...”

“No,” she said, shaking her head. “We didn’t do anything. We started to, but then we stopped.”

“So we never...”

“Never. We could have gotten an annulment after all.”

Lucky smiled and pulled her into a hug. “I’m glad we didn’t.”

“Me too,” she sighed, wrapping her arms around him. “If we had, me might have never realized...”

“I don’t know about that,” he murmured softly. “It might have taken longer, but I think we would have eventually found each other again.”

Liz pulled back and nodded. “You’re right. Besides, your father wouldn’t have let us get away that easily.”

“Good point,” he said, laughing. “So, what should we do now?” He looked at her innocently, trying to keep a straight face.

“Oh, I don’t know,” she sighed, playing along. “We could watch a movie, or get something to eat, or dance some more...”

“Nah, we’ve done all that before.” He grinned mischievously and leaned closer to her. “We should do something new.”

“New, huh?” she asked softly, her pulse quickening as she looked up into his hungry eyes. [Author’s note: My apologies to everyone who now has that Eric Carmen song from the 80s stuck in their heads. I now return you to your regularly scheduled fanfic, already in progress...]

“Yeah. You feeling adventurous?” he asked, leaning down to nuzzle her earlobe.

“What do you have in mind?” she gasped, closing her eyes.

Lucky reached under her and stood up from the couch, lifting her in his arms. She let out a tiny squeal and wrapped her arms around his neck. “Where are you taking me?”

“Upstairs,” he replied suggestively, tightening his grip on her as he walked towards the stairs.

“You know, I have been known to walk on my own around here,” she giggled, turning to look at the steps as he climbed them.

“Can’t a guy be romantic with you?’ he teased, nearing the top of the stairs. Liz turned to look back at him and smiled.

“I’ve never known anyone more romantic than you.”

“If I said I get it from my dad, would you be totally grossed out?”

She wrinkled her nose. “Ugh, probably.”

Lucky laughed and turned into the bedroom. “Then I guess I’ll just keep that to myself.” He stopped in the doorway. “We’re here.”

“Yes we are,” she sighed, looking into the room. “I think I can stand on my own now.”

“I was going to carry you to the bed,” he pouted, stepping into the room.

“That’s sweet, but there’s something I need to do first. Put me down?”

He sighed and lowered her feet to the floor. “All right, party pooper.”

Liz turned to him and grinned, placing a quick kiss on his lips. “Trust me, you won’t think so for long. Just close your eyes and give me a few minutes.

“Close my eyes? Elizabeth, what are you...”

She placed her finger over his lips, silencing him. “Just trust me. Come on, close ‘em.” He sighed and did as she asked, folding his arms across his chest as he waited impatiently for her to tell him she was finished.

Liz hurried to the dresser, reached back into the top drawer and pulled out the black nightgown that Charisma had given them for their wedding. She hurried into the bathroom to change, snickering to herself as she tried to picture Lucky’s reaction. After checking herself in the mirror, she took a deep breath to calm her nerves and opened the door. Once she was standing in front of him again, she cleared her throat.

“Okay, you can open them.”

Lucky smiled and opened his eyes, his jaw dropping in astonishment when he saw her. “Elizabeth...” he breathed, taking in her beauty as she watched him expectantly.

“Well? What do you think?” she asked self-consciously, chewing on her lip.

Finally finding his voice, he looked into her eyes and smiled. “I think that if you had worn this on our wedding night, it would have ended much differently.”

Liz giggled at his obvious approval. “That might have been difficult. It was Charisma’s wedding gift, remember? I didn’t have it back then!”

Lucky gently took her by the waist and pulled her closer, his eyes burning with desire. “Remind me to give her a raise later.”

She opened her mouth to answer, but before she could utter a word, he was kissing her. Quickly forgetting what she was going to say, she returned the kiss, their passion building as she began to tug at his shirt. He broke the kiss long enough so she could pull the shirt over his head, then attacked her lips once more, backing her up to the bed.

As they continued to kiss, Liz reached down to the waistband of Lucky’s pants, quickly unbuttoning and unzipping them, letting them fall to the ground. He stepped out of them and gently pushed her onto the bed. She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him down with her, momentarily breaking their steamy kiss.

“Are you sure about this?” he whispered, panting slightly as he leaned over her. She smiled warmly and nodded.

“I’ve never been more sure about anything in my life, Lucky.” She raised her head to kiss him, but he stood up out of her reach.

“Hang on a second, I want to make sure everything’s perfect.” He went over to the door and closed it, then turned off the light. Liz smiled and pushed herself up against the pillows, watching in wonder as he walked across the room in nothing but a pair of boxers. He gathered a couple of candles and placed them on the dresser, lit them, then returned to the bed.

“You look even more beautiful in candlelight,” he sighed, lowering himself next to her, gazing lovingly into her eyes. She reached up and caressed his face, amazed at how perfect he was.

“So are you,” she whispered, pulling his head down to kiss him. As their passion mounted again, Lucky slid the straps of her nightgown off of her shoulders, then pushed down the rest of it. She shifted her weight enough so he could remove the garment, holding her breath as he paused to look down at her.

He smiled softly, letting his hand trail lightly across her skin as he slowly explored her body. “You’re amazing.”

Liz inhaled sharply as he moved over her breasts, sending her to new heights of desire. She reached down and tugged at his boxers, suddenly needing to see him, all of him. He lifted himself off of her and helped her remove them, then looked down at her, waiting for her to make the next move, to let him know what she wanted him to do.

Seeing that he was waiting for her cue, she cradled his face and pulled him down to her, kissing him deeply. Her hands began their own exploration, attentively moving down his body as he had done earlier to her, generating a soft gasp from his as they reached their destination.

Unable to resist her any longer, Lucky positioned himself over her and opened his eyes to make sure she was ready. She looked up at him with pure love in her eyes and nodded.

He kissed her again as he entered her, feeling her tense up for a moment at the initial pain, then relax as it quickly dissipated. They began to move together, slowly at first, then with growing intensity, until they reached the height of their passion and collapsed in exhaustion.

Lucky rolled onto his side and looked down at her. “How do you feel?” he whispered, reaching over to push some of the hair out of her eyes.

She smiled up at him, her breathing still heavy. “Incredible.”

He kissed her tenderly and sighed. “That’s because you are.”
