~*~Epilogue~*~
The guard walks up to the small cell and unlocks the door. “Your lawyer is here, Mrs. Cassidine.”
“Thank you,” she says curtly, stepping out of the cell to follow him to the visiting room. Once she’s inside, he shuts the door, locking her in. She sighs and seats herself at the long metal table, waiting for her guest to come in. A moment later, the outer door opens, and a tall man wearing a dark suit strides into the room, taking a seat across from her.
“Good morning, Mrs. Cassidine,” he greets cheerfully, as though they were in his office, and not a prison.
“Whatever, can we just get on with this? Did you bring the documents as I requested?”
“Of course.” He sets his briefcase on the table and opens it, pulls out a file, then closes it and puts it back on the floor. He then opens the folder and sifts through it for the appropriate pages, sliding them over to her.
Helena scans through them, smiling as she reads the newest additions. She nods in approval and takes the pen from his hand to sign them, then lays the pen on the table and pushes both back to him, sighing with relief.
“Thank you for being so efficient, Mr. Harris. I will make certain that you are well-compensated for this and for your future discretion,” she says, staring him down so that he knows she means business.
Mr. Harris swallows nervously and nods. “Of course, attorney/client privilege is sacred to me, I would never break it! I will file these myself immediately.” With that, he stands up and knocks on the door, signaling that he’s ready to leave. Once he’s gone, Helena smiles proudly and sits back in her chair, waiting for the guard to return for her.
“My final revenge will be the sweetest, it’s such a shame I won’t be able to see it unfold,” she murmurs, a wicked grin on her face. “The Spencers think they’ve rid themselves of me by sending me to this filthy prison, but one of these days, their lives will be turned upside down, and they’ll finally pay.”
