~*~Chapter 3~*~
Elizabeth comes out of the bedroom and twirls around in front of Lucky. “Well?”
“Elizabeth, you look amazing. Is that a new dress?”
“Yeah, Emily helped me pick it out. You look pretty handsome yourself, there,” She says, wrapping her arms around his neck. “In fact, I don’t think I want to share you with all those people tonight.“
He laughs and kisses her gently. “Elizabeth, you never have to share me. I’m yours and only yours, always. Now, we better get going or else V will come looking for me, and trust me, you don’t want to be on her bad side!”

“Where is he?” V asks, pacing on the stage.
“Relax, legs. He’ll be here. Him and the wife just have a little trouble leaving the house sometimes,” Luke jokes.
She sighs and checks her watch again, just as Lucky rushes into the room. “I’m here, don’t send out your goons!” he jokes.
“Um, Cowboy? Aren’t you forgetting someone?” Luke asks, laughing at his son’s nervousness.
“Huh? Oh, she’s parking the car. I knew V would probably be wearing a hole in the stage pacing, so I asked her to drive so I could jump out as soon as we got here. Was I right?” he asks, shooting V a knowing look.
“Well, when my star is late, yeah, I get a little nervous. Anyway, you’re here now, so go up there and tune your guitar or something!”
Lucky laughs and salutes her before climbing onto the stage. The show wasn’t starting for another hour, and the place was pretty much empty.
Liz comes inside, followed by Emily and Nikolas. “Look who followed me! Can I keep them?” she jokes.
“Are they housebroken?” Luke asks, laughing. Liz and Emily both hug him. “How are my two favorite daughters-in-law?”
“Luke, we’re your only daughters-in-law!” Emily says. “And we’re fine. Right, Liz?” She turns to Liz, who is too busy watching Lucky. “Right, Liz?”
“Huh? Oh, um, right.” Liz mutters, still staring at him.
“Darlin’, he ain’t going anywhere. You can take your eyes off of him for a few minutes!” Luke chuckles. Liz turns and smiles at him like she just got caught with her hand in the cookie jar.
“Sorry, guys. I didn’t mean to be so preoccupied. I’m just so excited for him tonight. Have you heard any of his rehearsals yet?”
Luke shakes his head “Nope. He won’t let anyone in. Says it’s a secret.”
“Yeah, he told me the same thing. I wonder what he has up his sleeve now?” Liz wonders, looking at the stage again. Lucky meets her gaze and winks before going back to his tuning.
“So, where’s Laura?” Emily asks, looking around the club.
“She’s on her way. Lulu was giving her trouble tonight. She wanted to wear her flower girl dress!”
Liz chuckles. “Oh, I’m sure Laura loved that idea!”
He shrugs. “Yeah, well, Lulu’s excited about seeing her big brother on stage. Frankly, I think we all are,” he says proudly, looking at his son. A few minutes later, Laura comes into the club, dragging a not-so-happy Lesley Lu behind her.
“Come on honey, you look fine!” she says in aggravation. Lulu just continues to pout.
“Hey, princess, aren’t you pretty!” Luke says, coming out from behind the bar to pick her up. He twirls her around, something that usually makes her giggle, but tonight, she was being stubborn. He sighs and puts her back on the ground.
Lucky sees this from the stage and puts down his guitar and walks over to his family. “Hey, Lulu, come give me a hug!”
She beams at him and runs into his arms. “You look so pretty tonight, you know that?” She shakes her head. “Well, you do, so stop pouting, okay? You’re much prettier when you smile. Can you smile for me?” Lulu nods and smiles as Lucky puts her down. “Good, just keep smiling, and I’ll make sure to sing something for you!”
Lulu giggles and runs back to Laura. “How does he do that?” she asks Luke as Lucky dashes back to the stage.
He shakes his head. “Who knows? He’s going to be one amazing father someday, though. Which reminds me,” he turns to Elizabeth and grins, “when are you going to start giving us some grandkids?”
Liz laughs and rolls her eyes at Emily, thinking of their earlier conversation. “Not yet, Luke, we’re still getting settled. Don’t worry, we’ve got all the time in the world to start having kids. Why don’t you bother Nikolas and Emily?”
“Hey now, no fair passing them off on me!” Emily jokes. “You’ve been married longer!”
“Yeah, but Nikolas is the older son, so he should be having the kids first, right Luke?” Liz says, laughing at the pained expression on Nikolas’s face.
Luke just chuckles. “Hey, I just want some grandkids to spoil. I don’t care who they come from, as long as they’re mine! Well, I shouldn’t say that. Lulu here better not be having kids anytime soon!”
They all laugh as they go find a table.
~*~Chapter 4~*~
“Wow, this place is really packed!” Liz gushes, checking her watch again. “Shouldn’t he be starting soon?”
“Calm down, sweetheart,” Luke says, patting her arm. “V knows what she’s doing, I’m sure.”
She smiles, knowing he’s right, but is still nervous. She feels almost like it’s her that’s about to be performing, not Lucky!
“I wonder what these mystery songs are?” Nikolas asks, trying to ease the tension at their table. Everyone is so anxious, he could almost feel it.
“Well, I’m sure it’s not a longshot to say at least one of them is about his lovely wife,” Luke says with a chuckle. “In fact, I’d be willing to bet they’re all about her!”
“Oh, I’m sure they’re not!” Liz says, blushing. “He does have other things to write about, you know!”
“Really? Like what?” Luke challenges, raising an eyebrow.
She thinks for a minute and laughs. “I don’t know right now, but there’s got to be something else!”
“Like what? A tribute to Helena and Faison?” Nikolas says sarcastically. “Face it, Liz. You’re his life. I’ll be surprised if even one of those songs he’s about to sing isn’t about you!”
“Come on guys, stop it! You’re going to embarrass me!” Liz says, her face turning even redder.
She is saved when V gets up onto the stage. “Welcome, everybody! L&B proudly presents our newest songwriter, Port Charles’ own, Lucky Spencer!” Everyone applauds as he takes the stage and smiles nervously. Liz watches him with a proud smile on her face, her heart beating faster like it does every time she sees him.
“Thank you,” Lucky says, his voice wavering slightly. “This first song is dedicated to someone who means a lot to me. I’m not going to say who, but they’ll know who they are when they hear it,” he says cryptically, looking over at his family’s table. They all grin at Liz, sure that the song will be about her. She blushes again as the opening chords begin. Lucky begins to sing, his voice strong and clear.
There's a hero
If you look inside your heart
You don't have to be afraid
Of what you are
There's an answer
If you reach into your soul
And the sorrow that you know
Will melt away
And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you
It's a long road
When you face the world alone
No one reaches out a hand
For you to hold
You can find love
If you search within yourself
And the emptiness you felt
Will disappear
And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you
Lord knows
Dreams are hard to follow
But don't let anyone
Tear them away
Hold on
There will be tomorrow
In time
You'll find the way
And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you
You
That a hero lies in you
By the end of the song, a tear is running down Lucky’s cheek, as well as Luke’s. Everyone at the table looks at him, touched by the song. Laura squeezes his hand. She can tell he’s trying his hardest not to cry, but he’s losing the battle.
Everyone is applauding wildly as Lucky regains his composure. He takes a deep breath before introducing the next song. If that one had been hard, this one was going to be nearly impossible!
