Chapter 1

Elizabeth Webber looked around the small airport for her grandmother. She smiled as her eyes landed an Audrey a few feet away, waving her over. She rushed over and dropped her bags in order to give her a hug.

"Hi, Gram. It's good to see you," she said, trying to fight the new wave of tears that threatened. Ever since she found out the news, she had been an emotional wreck.

"It's good to see you too, dear. I'm glad you could come here. It will be nice to have another body around the house again," Audrey said warmly, looking at her granddaughter. It had been so long since she had seen Elizabeth last, and she looked so grown-up now. "How are you doing?"

Elizabeth smiled sadly and shrugged. "I'm okay. Actually, it's kind of a relief. I always felt like there was something wrong, like I didn't really belong there. Now that I know, it's like a weight has been lifted." She sighed, remembering the day she found out, her 18th birthday. She wasn't able to speak to her parents for days afterwards, she was so angry with them for keeping something so important from her. Eventually, she had come to accept it, and decided that as soon as graduation was over, she would move to Port Charles. Now that she was here, she was nervous about making such a big decision.

Audrey noticed the look of apprehension on Liz's face and smiled. "Everything will be fine, dear. This is a wonderful town, and I'm sure you will love living here."

"Do you know her, Gram? My birth mother?" Liz asked quietly. She wanted to know everything she could about the woman that gave her up 18 years ago. On one hand, she was dying to meet her, but on the other she was afraid. What if she didn't want to know her? What if she hated her?

"Well, I've met her a few times, but I can't say I know her very well. She seems like a nice woman, though. I'm sure you'll hit it off just fine."

"How can you know that, Gram? I mean, she did give me up. What if she doesn't want to have anything to do with me?" Liz asked, wiping her eyes.

"I guess I don't know that for sure. Maybe she was too young to take care of a child, and she did what she thought was best for you..."

"Maybe. I just hope she doesn't hate me," Liz said quietly, picking up her bags as they moved out of the terminal.

"Oh, I don't think you have anything to worry about. I can't imagine anyone hating you, dear. Now, let's go home. I'm sure you're exhausted after your trip."

As they made their way out to the parking garage, a luggage cart rolled towards Liz, nearly colliding with her. She waved her hand slightly and it stopped inches from her. She looked around quickly to make sure no one had been watching her, and continued to follow her grandmother to the car.

"Lucky! Nikolas is here!" Laura yelled up the stairs.

"I'll be right there!" he yelled back, grabbing his rollerblades and rushing out the door. He barreled down the stairs and nearly ran right into his mother, who was coming up to see what was keeping him.

"Hey, slow down. You're going to break your neck one of these days!" Laura said, stepping quickly out of his way. He ran down the remainsing stairs, ignoring her warning.

"Sorry, Nikolas. I couldn't find one of my blades. It got buried in the closet." He turned to his little sister and grinned. "You ready, Lu?"

"Yes, let's go!" the energetic six-year-old said, jumping up and down. Nikolas and Lucky both laughed as they followed her out of the house.

"I hope we can keep up with her," Nikolas said as he closed the door behind him. they made their way to the park before sitting down to put on their skates. Lulu had been begging her big brothers to teach her how to rollerblade for years, but they were always afraid she was too young. Finally, she managed to convince them that she would be fine, and they reluctantly agreed.

"Okay, now, hold onto our hands for now, okay? If you get hurt, mom will kill us!" Lucky said, taking her left hand in his, as Nikolas took her right. She nodded as they helped her stand up. She wobbled a little, but managed to keep her balance pretty well. After an hour of skating around with her, she started begging them to let her try it on her own. They were nervous, but could see that she wouldn't let up, so they let go of her hands, keeping close by her side in case she fell.

"Hey Lu, you're a regular pro!" Lucky said after watching her a few minutes. She still wobbled a bit, but hadn't fallen yet. She was grinning from ear to ear, having the time of her life.

"Uh-oh, watch out for that branch!" Nikolas shouted, pointing at a fallen limb in the middle of the sidewalk. Suddenly, it lifted off the ground and moved over to the grass. Lucky and Nikolas looked at each other in confusion.

I thought we agreed not to do that in front of her, Lucky said silently.

Nikolas nodded. I know. It wasn't me!

Lulu giggled and stopped skating to turn and look at her brothers. "I did it!"

They both squatted down to her level in shock. "How did you hear us?" Nikolas asked slowly. The two brothers had been communicating telepathically, one of the many abilities they had inherited from their mother Lulu just shrugged and grinned at them.

"How did you do that?" Lucky asked, pointing at the branch.

Lulu giggled again. "I saw mommy do it the other day and made her show me how!" she said proudly.

"Nice of her to let us know!" Lucky said sarcastically, picking up his baby sister. She shrieked happily as he spun her around in the air. He put her back on the ground and she took a moment to catch her breath before speaking again.

"Can everybody do that?" she asked innocently.

Lucky shook his head. "No, sweetie, only people with really special mommies like ours can. Did mom tell you to keep it a secret?" She nodded.

"Good, because this is something special that we can do, and other people may not understand it. You have to swear that you'll never tell anyone, and you'll never move things when other people are around, okay?" Nikolas asked, kneeling down so that he was at her eye-level. She nodded again and he hugged her. "Good girl."
